Staff Recruitment Process
At Sparkling Angels Nursery, rigorous checks are carried out carried before employing any member of staff. Our employment procedure includes; 2 stage interview process, disclosure barring service (DBS) check, identification and proof of address, qualifications, 5 induction days.
The successful candidate will be offered the position subject to at least two references from previous employment or, in the case of a newly qualified student, their tutor and a personal or professional reference. These references will be taken up BEFORE employment commences.
Staff Management
The management team implement a system of supervision for all of our staff following their induction and continuous moderation, peer observation and performance management system. These helps to promote a culture of mutual support, teamwork, good practice and continuous improvement.
Staff Training and Development
At Sparkling Angels Nurseries, we value our staff highly. We believe that personal and professional development is essential for maintaining the delivery of high-quality care and learning for children. Which underpins all aspects of positive interactions and activities planned for children.
- We strongly promote continuous professional development
- All staff have individual training records and training plans to enhance their skills and expertise, which are based on discussions at supervision meetings and appraisal meetings.
- We have a training budget which is set annually and reviewed to ensure that the team gain external support and training where needed.
- Staff trained before they are permitted to carry out certain jobs
- If children have an accident that require emergency first aid during nursery hours, only trained staff are permitted to apply first aid.
- Only trained staff are permitted to administered medication to children ( for example, prescribed medication), validate and record dosage.
Key Person Policy
At Sparkling Angels Nursery, each child will have an allocated Key person, who is a member of staff with lead responsibility for the child. The role of the key person includes; maintaining records of each allocated child, liaising with key children’s parents/carers. Monitoring their progress and developmental records, artwork, achievements and reports on the child’s progress during their time in the setting.
